GFIA works for professional investors, advising them on their allocations to skill-based managers in Asia and the emerging markets, providing strategic advisory, portfolio advisory, and due diligence services.  Its clients include funds of funds, family offices, and fiduciary institutions.  All services are compensated by transparent fees and GFIA receives no compensation from underlying managers.

GFIA’s offers wealth management services to substantial pools of sophisticated private wealth.  GFIA provides a full fiduciary service, from initial structuring, through cash management, to portfolio investment, due diligence, and philanthropy.  GFIA manages external providers on behalf of clients, as necessary.  All services are compensated by a transparent fee invoiced to clients and GFIA receives no other compensation.

Investment staff are internally trained and work within a consistent process developed over more than a decade.  GFIA maintains a comprehensive and instantly retrievable library of manager information, currently in excess of 80,000 documents.  Its proprietary manager rating algorithm runs on a custom-written database.  GFIA’s analysts conduct in excess of 300 in-depth manager assessments every year, and are skilled in reviewing a broad range of investment propositions.

GFIA’s core universe includes hedged and absolute return managers investing in Asia, including Japan and Australia; Latin America; and the emerging markets of central Europe and the former Soviet states, the Middle East, and Africa. GFIA has special expertise in indigenous managers, and in smaller and newer managers.

GFIA has managed, constructed, and advised portfolios investing in to Latin American, Asian, and EMEA frontier alternative funds, as well as global unconstrained long funds.

GFIA does not provide marketing or distribution services to fund managers.

GFIA was founded by Peter Douglas CAIA, a pioneer of the Asian hedge fund industry.  He is the principal of the firm, and is chairman of the GFIA investment committee.  He is a Singapore Financial Industry Certified Professional, one of only 38 in Singapore, of which only two are from the asset management industry, and is the only one from the alternative investment management industry.  He was an Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) Council member for 10 years, was the inaugural Chairman of the Singapore National Group and the inaugural Asia-Pacific regional representative of the Association, responsible for AIMA National Groups in Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore.  He was a co-founder of the Financial Planning Association of Singapore (FPAS).   Peter holds an honours degree from the University of Exeter, an MBA from INSEAD, and was the first CAIA charterholder in Singapore.

GFIA is completely independent of any other financial or commercial organization and stresses long-term commitment, training and cohesion amongst its professional staff.
